There has GOT to be a way to put time on hold! These baby days are flying by faster than I ever thought possible!
Our Little Miss turned 3 months old on July 4th. She celebrated by going to a parade and a pool party, and ended her night by sleeping through our town’s fireworks.
She attended her SECOND wedding this month, and she enjoyed her first daddy-daughter dance. The first wedding was my cousin Kim’s outdoor-turned-indoor (violent storm)wedding, and the second one was Keith’s cousin Sean’s wedding.
This month, Jensyn has discovered her hands. They are always in her mouth now! All 3 of my kids have done this, but it cracks me up that they want to have their fingers in their mouth while nursing. Sorry, baby, it won’t work! So, we’re in the “fishing baby fingers from the mouth in order to feed the baby” phase.
She has also taken a real interest in looking at people – whether they are real people in front of her, or her own reflection in the mirror. She’s alert, checking out all the people and activity around her. She’s becoming a more social girl, and she loves to look right into people’s eyes.
I don’t have pictures of this, but she really loves to look at her daddy. She’ll give him big smiles until he pays attention to her. She’s especially interested in him at church. Maybe because he finally has a chance to sit still, rather than doing the zillion things that keep him busy here at home!
We broke out the bumbo chair, since Jensyn has pretty strong head control. She enjoys sitting in it for 15 – 20 minutes.
Maggie loves it, too, as she has great access to kiss away all that baby drool! ;) Jensyn doesn’t mind – she seems to enjoy the furry creature!
Jensy has started to reach for her toys. She doesn’t always get them, but she’s getting curious about them.
Jensyn is still pretty good about taking a bottle. We don’t give her one very often, but she’s usually pretty quick to take it. There have been 2 occasions where she wouldn’t take a bottle from Daddy, but she took it from me the second I walked in the door.
I was able to leave her for 4.5 hours this past weekend, so that Keith & I could take Alex on a special date. We figured we’d have to cut our date short to get home to Jensyn, but she did GREAT!
She’s still our best sleeper out of the three. She’s going to bed around 9:30 most nights. Some nights I put her in her crib, swaddled, at that time. Other times, I let her nap in her clothes & then get her ready for bed when we go to bed. She usually wakes once in the early morning (6ish) and then sleeps until 8 AM or later.
For the past 3 nights, she’s been waking twice during the night. I’m not sure if it’s a growth-spurt or a not-so-great phase, but she’s been waking around 2 AM and again around 5:30 or 6 AM.
As for naps, I’m planning to work on a little more of a schedule later this month. She usually takes a 45 min – 1 hour nap in the morning, a longer nap (2 – 3 hours) in the afternoon, and a catnap or two in the evening. There’s no rhyme or reason to it, though…and we need to start working on that!
Jensyn has started to “talk”. I wouldn’t really call it coo-ing, as she makes a crackly sound. It’s a “k” sound that is, well, staticky. It’s the funniest little noise, but it’s her way of talking to us.
Jensyn is pretty good about being passed around. These pictures were taken at my parent’s house in June.
She loves her big brothers, and the feeling is mutual. They enjoy holding her, loving on her, and giving the baby her paci.
She’s growing so fast, and we LOVE her so much!
I’m still so overwhelmingly thankful that God blessed us with this precious baby GIRL! Pink, flowers, and bows in her hair are such a special treat!
We love you, baby girl! We’re blessed to be the ones who watch you growing and changing right in front of us every day.
Happy 3 Months!
