Honey, We Shrunk The Kids!

I’ve been telling Alex for a long time that he’s getting big, and I needed to find a way to shrink him.  We finally figured it out.  See how much he has shrunk when compared to his little brother?  Hee hee!

Truth is, of course,  that Daddy dug a hole.  He decided that his this year’s project would be to put in a basketball hoop so we could have fun shooting baskets outside.  Alex really enjoyed Upward Basketball this winter, so we figured it could be fun to play at home as well.

The kids had a good time playing in the hole before it was filled with a post and cement.

Even Jensyn enjoyed some time in the hole…just look at her happy giggles!

Keith & his dad got the pole upright on Saturday, so we’ve had a few days to try it out.  It’s still a little high for the boys, but it is about the same height as Alex used for kindergarten Upward.  I guess that means it’s a good place for both boys to practice…and for me to practice, too!  Keith and I left the kids in the house for ten minutes on Saturday night while he & I played…I’m sure glad no neighbors were around to watch because I definitely, DEFINITELY need some practice, ha ha!

Hopefully this will encourage our kiddos to get outside and have fun!  We look forward to making good use of this hoop during the summer & fall!

Let’s Go Fly A Kite!

Last week Saturday, Keith and Jensyn went to town to run a few errands.  Along with the items on the shopping list, they also came home with a kite!

Our kids have never flown a kite before, and Daddy picked a fun one!  It’s a Color Me Kite, which gave the kids over thirty minutes of fun before they even set foot outside!

They really enjoyed their first kite-flying experience, and last night they asked Daddy to pull out the kite again for a little while.  We suddenly had a yard full of neighbor children who wanted to join in on the fun!

I’m so glad to have a husband – and glad that our kids have a daddy – who enjoys spending time with his children!  We are blessed to have a wonderful husband/daddy like Keith! Smile

Happy Fathers Day…

…to an amazing man who takes time to PLAY and have FUN with his kiddos.
They couldn’t ask for a better daddy, and I couldn’t ask for a better husband.

We love you, Daddy!

Alex tried, too, on Max’s bike…

We spent a fun evening playing outside together.
The boys went muddin’ in a deep & giant puddle, and boy, were they filthy and soaked!

Jensyn picked pretty yellow flowers near the ditch.

No More Curls

I left Max’s curls to grow for a long time, as I wanted him to have those adorable curls for his 2 year pictures.  You may remember how that turned out…the pictures certainly didn’t highlight his curls!

October2011 014

After that, I just dreaded cutting of those adorable curls.  Once I finally decided that maybe it would be okay to cut it, the kids started getting sick one-by-one.  I put it off because I didn’t want to have sick kids on the day of the haircut appointment.October2011 015

Finally, Daddy had enough.  Last Saturday night, he decided we were cutting hair after supper.  Oooooh boy – he’s never cut anyone’s hair before.  I was pretty worried about how he’d do with curly hair on a wiggly toddler.

October2011 016

Max was definitely a bit wiggly and unsure about this!

Daddy’s a pretty good barber, though!  Max is sporting an adorable new haircut…and I (almost) like it better than those wild & crazy curls.  He looks so cute!

Good job, Daddy!

Watch out, Alex ~ Daddy might be after you next! ;)

Daddy’s iPod

We tend not to spoil ourselves around here.  Our cell phones are very basic.  Until recently, we didn’t even have texting plans!  We don’t have any electronic gadgets, even though we would both really enjoy them.  We have our desktop computer, and that’s it.

Finally, FINALLY, Keith decided go ahead and get something fun for his birthday this year.  He really debated, but he bought an iPod Touch.

Alex is our gadget kid, and he was anxiously waiting for Daddy to let him check out this new toy.  Daddy downloaded a few kids apps for Alex, and they sat down at the table to try it out.  I think it’s safe to say that Alex was having fun!

Keith downloaded a bunch of new stuff while he had nothing to do at the hotel in Pittsburgh.  We’ve all been enjoying Daddy’s new toy since he came home!  Oh, and I know what I want for Christmas this year ;)

What are your favorite apps (especially ones for your kiddos) on your iPod?  We’re mainly looking for the free ones…and that probably doesn’t surprise you! ;)

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Keith’s birthday was yesterday.  We spent the day at Keith’s parents house for Memorial Day.  Keith’s mom and Jessica made a fun cake for him – a drum set!May2011 107

For his birthday, he got an edger for the lawn and…finally…did something FUN for himself – he ordered an iPod Touch!  I’m so happy he finally spoiled himself – it’s been years since he bought himself something fun!

May2011 115As for the day at Grandma & Papa’s house, we played cards, chatted, and the kids..and dads, and even Leanne for a while…played in the water in the backyard.  Leanne brought a really fun wiggly sprinkler hose.  I think it’s the cutest sprinkler I’ve ever seen!  Unfortunately Max wouldn’t go in it, and Alex said he was afraid to get his eyes wet.  They had lots of fun with water balloons, hose, water guns, and even a homemade water sprayer.  (Leanne took an empty water bottle, poked a few holes in it, and gave it to Max to squeeze because he couldn’t figure out the water guns.)

Slovakia

Keith travelled to Slovakia this past week on a business trip for work.  There was no time for sight-seeing in daylight, but he took a few pictures around the city before dark on the night they arrived.

He can (hopefully) add some text to this later, but for now, here are the few pictures he was able to take in the city of Kosice. (Koh-see-cha, in case you wondered)

For Jessica, the McDonald’s lover…

Keith said it was very interesting to see this very modern building in the middle of all the beautiful, old architecture.
